Music & Memories

For over twenty five years, our weekly radio program, "Music & Memories" has been broadcast every Sunday morning at 8 a.m. over KASM radio, 1150 AM in Albany. Each week we recognize those who died in the coming week of the previous year and include inspirational music. We also invite listeners to call or write to have their loved one remembered on the program.

Our weekly radio program, "Music & Memories", is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8 a.m. over KASM radio, 1150AM. Each week we recognize those who died in the coming week of the previous year, along with inspirational music.

Invitations to listen are sent out to each family we have served about a week before the program airs. But now we are able to post the script for this coming Sunday right here.

We invite you to have your loved one remembered on the program. Just fill out this form. Remember to send us the name and date of death about ten days ahead of time so that we can get them on the program the week before the anniversary date.

Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday, July 26, 2026 Covering the deaths from July 26-Aug 1, 2026 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. The new "Normal". We hear that a lot after the death of someone we love. What exactly does that mean? We know it means change. Life will never be the same, but did you know it also means not only the loss of your loved one but also losing some of the connections to yourself and the world around you. We also grieve for the loss of self; "a part of me died with them", we grieve the loss of our identity, rethinking your role as husband/wife, son/daughter, etc. Physical health and emotional security become something to be aware of. The new "Normal" covers all these new challenges. When you celebrate your loved one's Heaven date this week, give yourself credit for also managing that new "Normal". This program is dedicated to: Lori Bauer Sprenger who died July 19, 2012 Dennis “Denny” Schuneman who died July 19, 2015 Samuel “Sam” Schuneman who died July 24, 2021 Jeanette “Jeanie” Hoppe who died July 26, 2025 Jane Bailey who died July 26, 2024 Mary T. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Celebrating our loved ones' Heaven day is so important to our heart and soul, along with keeping our loved one's legacy alive! As with Footprints in the Sand, if we don't recognize and honor our loved ones' footprints here on earth; we would question, were they alive and did they live? It's up to our loved ones' family to share their legacy and keep their memory alive. Who would know they even lived if we don't share and celebrate their lives. Celebration is important; celebrate your loved one's heaven day with love, storytelling, laughter and tears! Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday, July 5, 2026 Covering the deaths from July 5-11, 2026 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. July 4th!! Celebrating 250 years of Life, Liberty and Freedom! Our Christian base founded our great country and as a Christian we believe our loved ones are in a better place. Grief loss is painful. Losing someone close to us to death is a real experience that we are never prepared for. Celebrating our loved ones' heaven day is crucial for our healing. With the July 4th celebration it's important to recognize that two of our Presidents; President Thomas Jefferson who was 83 and John Adams who was 90 both died on July 4, 1826; 50 years after the writing of the Declaration of Independence. They died within five hours of each other. Imagine for a moment the grief pain felt there! As we've learned, life goes on and our pain does get softer along the way. Grief spares no one. Celebrate your loved ones’ anniversary day along with the 4th of July celebrating by sharing those stories and memories! Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday, June 28, 2026 Covering the deaths from June 28 - July 4, 2026 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. As with all the seasons, summer brings on summer triggers like attending baseball games, grilling out, picnics and family reunions to name a few. You're reminded that one person will not be attending this year or you've adjusted to your loved one not being present, but their memory reminds you of how they loved the summer events. It's important to recognize how you feel and honor those feelings. It's very normal to feel what you are feeling. The deeper the love, the deeper the pain. As you move forward on your journey you'll learn to experience Joy right alongside the sadness of loss. Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday, June 14, 2026 Covering the deaths from June 14-20, 2026 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. How is your summer going so far? When we lose someone, we deeply loved to death, we sometimes forget we have choices of who we are and how to feel. Sadness of your loss is a normal reaction along with anger, guilt and the should haves. Yes, it's true, we can allow all those emotions to take control over us and our lives, but that is never healthy. Why waste a day allowing those emotions to control you when you could be enjoying your day? When an emotion wants to take you over, identify the emotion, feel it and speak it out loud to take its power away. Now you can go on with your day still missing them but being in control of your emotions. After all, your loved ones wouldn't want you to be sad but would want you to find peace and enjoy your day. This program is dedicated to: Arlan Schlagel who died June 8, 2021 Elmer Frericks who died June 9, 2013 Dale Moscho who died June 14, 2025 Norman “Norm” Sterling who died June 14, 2024 Lucien Sowada who died June 14, 2002 Marie Schreifels who died June 15, 1997 Michael Riesner who died June 15, 1968 Petra Oevermann who died June 16, 2025 Lenny Merdan who died June 16, 2021 John Ainali who died June 16, 2021 Alice Everett who died June 16, 2012 Carol Reber who died June 16, 2012 Aloysius “Jack” Rousslang who died June 16, 1974 John Francis Horn who died June 17, 2019 Joseph “Joe” Gill who died June 17, 1983 Elsie Hellermann who died June 17, 2011 Robert, Mary Ann, Laura, Julie, Scott Robert Jr., & Tracy Spanier who died June 17, 1977 Marcellus Schreifels who died June 18, 2025 Maggie Schindler who died June 18, 2024 Ozzie Barthel who died June 18, 1994 James “Jim” Abaham who died June 19, 2024 Milford Baggenstoss who died June 19, 2024 Carol Reber who died June 19, 2012 Jenny Blommel who died June 19, 2005 Father Victor Kinzer who died June 19, 2005 Joseph Stadtherr who died June 19, 1990 Magdalene Schmidt who died June 19, 1954 Jeffrey “Jeff” Ainali who died June 20, 2025 Gisela Schwanke who died June 20, 2024 Gary Terhaar who died June 20, 2021 Alvin Meyer who died June 20, 2012 Henry Kunstleben who died June 20, 1980 Theresa Rosen Goebel who died June 20, 1975 We encourage you as family and friends to show that you care by remembering these families, this week, with a phone call, a card, or a visit.

Celebrations are everywhere! This may be the perfect time to have a memorial get together and celebrate your loved one's life. Picnics and potlucks come to mind. You could ask your guests to bring a dish to share that reminds them of your loved one. You could do symbolic tributes by blowing bubbles, releasing flower pedals on a lake or a butterfly release. Broadcast for Sunday, May 31, 2026 Covering the deaths from May 31 - June 6, 2026 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Summer is here with its sunshine, singing birds, nature greening up and don't forget; lawn mowing. Routines. We all have routines we follow until we lose someone we love to death. Our routine has now been disrupted. That's where the "new normal" begins. What we considered our routine has now been changed. Our world as we knew it no longer exists. There has become an emptiness where our loved one once was included. Now we may find more time on our hands, thus creating that "new normal". As we venture forward there is a very important thing to never forget. Our loved one will always be in our heart, and no one can take that away. Be gentle with you as you begin your "new normal". This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Blessings to you all on this Memorial weekend! This weekend signifies many things. Another school year has ended, and summer officially begins; one chapter ends and another one opens. Most important of all is celebrating Memorial Day by remembering our brave men and women who gave their lives so we can live with freedom.
