Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday, Aug 16, 2026 Covering the deaths from Aug 16-22, 2026 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Sometimes we can fashion our grief pain with the weather. The emotional pain we experience after the death of someone close to us can become overwhelming. Like the hot summer days with no rain relief, we feel so parched and empty. Just like the earth sighs with relief after a good rain, our bodies feel relief after a good cry. Tears are our body's way of cleansing and releasing of the pain we are feeling. "Love tears" are an amazing expression of the love you have for your loved one! Celebrate their love for you and your love of them by sharing those stories and memories along with laughter and tears! This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Already August, and after a year, your loved ones' Heaven Day is approaching. When we lose someone close to us to death, they never leave our hearts so when grief pain is new, we may anticipate their Heaven Day with mixed feelings. If your loved one's loss has been a while, you may have become friends with your grief pain and anticipate their Heaven Day by celebrating and sharing their legacy of who they were. In either case your loved ones are right there with you in memory and in your heart forever. Don't forget, " the greater the love the greater the pain". Celebrate their love of you and your love of them through storytelling, sharing their favorite food, traditions and memory sharing. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. The new "Normal". We hear that a lot after the death of someone we love. What exactly does that mean? We know it means change. Life will never be the same, but did you know it also means not only the loss of your loved one but also losing some of the connections to yourself and the world around you. We also grieve for the loss of self; "a part of me died with them", we grieve the loss of our identity, rethinking your role as husband/wife, son/daughter, etc. Physical health and emotional security become something to be aware of. The new "Normal" covers all these new challenges. When you celebrate your loved one's Heaven date this week, give yourself credit for also managing that new "Normal". Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday, July 5, 2026 Covering the deaths from July 5-11, 2026 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. July 4th!! Celebrating 250 years of Life, Liberty and Freedom! Our Christian base founded our great country and as a Christian we believe our loved ones are in a better place. Grief loss is painful. Losing someone close to us to death is a real experience that we are never prepared for. Celebrating our loved ones' heaven day is crucial for our healing. With the July 4th celebration it's important to recognize that two of our Presidents; President Thomas Jefferson who was 83 and John Adams who was 90 both died on July 4, 1826; 50 years after the writing of the Declaration of Independence. They died within five hours of each other. Imagine for a moment the grief pain felt there! As we've learned, life goes on and our pain does get softer along the way. Grief spares no one. Celebrate your loved ones’ anniversary day along with the 4th of July celebrating by sharing those stories and memories! As with all the seasons, summer brings on summer triggers like attending baseball games, grilling out, picnics and family reunions to name a few. You're reminded that one person will not be attending this year or you've adjusted to your loved one not being present, but their memory reminds you of how they loved the summer events. As you move forward on your journey you'll learn to experience Joy right alongside the sadness of loss.
