Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. 
 
This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. 
 
By now your 4th of July celebrations are ongoing. Your grief emotions may have challenged you while you were attending the celebration and when we think of celebrating, our grief pain likes to stop us from having a good time. Grief emotions are unpredictable and as with our emotions, like to think they're in charge. Dealing with your grief starts by recognizing and naming it. For example: "I feel sad today". By saying this out loud you have recognized your feelings and taken the power away. You may not like the word celebration for now, but a good get-together is very healing! Let's take a moment to recognize and honor all those men and women who fought for the freedom we live today; including the freedom to grief!
