Susan Regine Hieserich was born March 20, 1958 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Ray and Louise Hieserich. She grew up on the Hieserich family farm southwest of Greenwald and attended elementary school in both Greenwald and Meire Grove. She went to Melrose High School and graduated in 1976. She especially enjoyed participating in the Melrose High School Marching Band.

After high school, Sue worked for a period of time at Dan Marsh Coffee Shop in St. Cloud, Minnesota while attending St. Cloud Vo Tech College for commercial cooking. Later, she chose to attend St. Cloud State University majoring in special education and graduating in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

After internships at several locations in Minnesota, Sue taught special education in both Veblen and Mobridge Schools in South Dakota for several years. She enjoyed her job and her special education students, but her health became an issue, and she was forced to discontinue her teaching career.

Sue then moved to Hopkins and furthered her education by attending Anoka Ramsey Community College in their medical records program. Later, she worked at several different area facilities as a Medical Records Technician.

In 1992,  Susan married Richard “Dick” Kobe. They lived in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and worked at several different business places in the area including the Knollwood Mall Theatre where they worked together. They supported each other through various health issues and celebrated 20 years of marriage shortly before Dick passed away in June of 2012.

Shortly after Dick passed away, Sue moved to an apartment in Hopkins. She made friends there and continued on with her life. She became a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in Hopkins for further support. With several friends at the apartment, Sue became part of a “coloring group” which she enjoyed very much. Family members and friends were often gifted with her many beautiful colorings. She was also a devoted Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Sue’s health issues continued but she dealt with them with much courage and determination.

Susan is survived by her mother, Louise Hieserich; siblings, Linda (Roger) Vossen, Nancy (Philip) Ayu, Daniel (Lori) Hieserich, and Donald Hieserich; sisters-in-law, Barb (Loren) Morris and Judy Shane; step sister-in-law, Sally (Lee) Prince; step brother-in-law, John (Mary) Hollinger; aunts, Regine Muellner and Mary Ann (Richard) Orth; uncle, Bert Waldorf; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Kobe; father, Raymond Hieserich; and step mother-in-law, Logene Kobe.
