Marian (Hall) Conlin, 100, long time resident of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully at the Sauk Centre CentraCare Health Care Center on Friday, July 12, 2019.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16th at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Father Greg Paffel presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

A visitation will be held 4 – 7 p.m. Monday, July 15th at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, 620 Beltline Road, Sauk Centre and at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Gathering Area from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 16th prior to Mass.  A Prayer Service will be held at 5 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home.

Marian was born near Vashti, North Dakota on August 4, 1918, the daughter of Roy and Emma (Norby) Hall. She grew up in North Dakota and moved to the Sauk Centre area after her marriage to Clifford Conlin in 1935. They lived on a farm east of Sauk Centre where they raised three children, Bernard, Marlys and Phyllis.

In addition to raising a family and working on the farm, Marian was employed at Pettit's Children's Home and Fingerhut Corporation for many years and volunteered at the local hospital. She was a member of St Paul's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. After her husband died in 1987, she moved into town.

Marian loved to be on the go, traveling to North Dakota and New Mexico to visit relatives, vacationing with family and friends, taking friends to appointments, going on shopping trips, or simply enjoying leisurely drives through the countryside. Over the years, she had many interests and hobbies including sewing, jewelry making, cake decorating, ribbon embroidery, reading, and card making, as well as collecting souvenir spoons, Precious Moments and salt and pepper shakers. The hundreds of teddy bears, Care Bears, Raggedy Ann's and various other stuffed animals she made have brought joy and continue to be treasured by many children and adults alike. She loved being dressed up in costumes, especially for Halloween, and had a large collection of fun headbands that were part of her daily attire at the Care Center. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet smile, sense of humor, dogged determination, creative storytelling, and the amazing number of rhymes and poems she could readily recite, even at age 100, most that she learned in grade school and from her Dad. She cherished her family and many friends.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Care Center for providing loving attention to Marian for nearly 8 years. Also, a special thank you to the many dear relatives and friends who shared a part of their life with her over the years and brought her comfort during her last days. In her own worlds, as expressed in her journal, "I pray for them and hope they know they are special."

She is survived by her children, Bernard Conlin of Arden Hills, MN and Phyllis Conlin of St Paul, MN; son-in law Robert Milburn of Lac du Flambeau, WI; sister, Rhoda McCarthy, Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Patrick (Jody) Conlin, Mark Conlin, Lynn Conlin, Michael Milburn and Elizabeth (Matthew) Schara; great grandchildren, Kyle (Jerica), Erika (DJ), Kally and Jack; great-great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Jalyn and Arlo and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Clifford; daughter, Marlys Milburn; daughter-in-law, Joan Conlin; parents, Roy and Emma Hall; brothers, William, Roy, Harlan, and Gene and sisters, Hazel and Norma.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Saint Paul's Catholic Church Building Fund that can be mailed to 304 Sinclair Lewis Ave, Sauk Centre, MN 56378 or CentraCare Sauk Centre designated to the Activity Department at 425 Elm St, Sauk Centre 56378.
