Lila Gomer

Lila C. (Johnson) Gomer, age 89 of Burtrum, died July 8, 2021 at the Galeon Care Center in Osakis, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Fred Kutter officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Lila Clares Johnson was born in a pioneer log cabin during a snowstorm on January 16, 1932 in Madelia, Minnesota to Clarence and Albertina (Schwanke) Johnson. She grew up and lived on a farm most of her life. Lila graduated from Brooten High School in 1950 and shortly after she met and married Robert Gomer on September 26, 1952, in Webster, South Dakota. They resided in Brooten until June of 1961 and then moved to the Grey Eagle/Burtrum area where they resided for the past 50 years. Robert passed away in 2011 and Lila continued to live on their farm until 2019 when she moved to Galeon Care Center.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church in Grey Eagle and enjoyed gardening, canning foods, raising chickens, sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

Survivors include her children, David Gomer, Dale (Julie) Gomer, and Darla Roering all of Burtrum; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Gomer.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Gomer on February 9, 2011; son-in-law, David Roering; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Gomer; grandson, Michael Gomer; brother, Gustav Johnson; and sister, Pearl Nelson.

Serving as casket bearers will be Joe, Bill, and Melvin Roering, Kevin Gomer, James Adamek, Jr., and Jonathan Adamek. Honorary bearers will be Jacquline Adamek, Abigale, Yarel, and Sam Roering.
