Ernest (Ernie) Henry Meyer, age 84 was called home to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 14, 2020 @ 12:05PM due to Cancer!  Ernie was greeted by his Parents Reinhold & Ella | Oldest Brother Leonard & Leonard’s Wife Joan | Nephew Sherwood (Brother Elmer & Virginia’s son) | Johnny Canton (Sister Jane’s Significant Other)!

Ernie is survived by Leonard & Joan’s (4 Children, 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren) | Brother Donald (Wife Shirley & 3 Children) | Brother Elmer (Wife Virginia, 3 Children, 4 Grandsons, 1 Great Granddaughter) | Brother Maurice (2 Daughters, 3 Grandsons, 2 Great Granddaughters) | Brother Virgil (Wife Joyce, 3 Children, 1 Grandson) | Sister Jane | 6 Nephew In-Laws & 6 Niece In-Laws!

Ernie lived a life of Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenia - here is his life’s resume…

1936               Arrived into this world, born and raised on a farm!  Ernie had many interests… Astronomy (he could name

all the constellations) Electronics (he used to make radios from scratch) Great Storyteller (to his siblings)

Music (played Guitar, Piano and Accordion all by ear).

1942 – 1950   Catholic Grade School, St. John The Baptist, Meire Grove

1950 – 1954   Melrose High School

1954 - 1956     DeVry Institute of Technology, Chicago…he achieved the highest

Grade Level in school history @ that time!

1956 – 1969    In & Out of Psychiatric Facilities

1969 - 1987     Willmar State Hospital - RTC

1987 - 2005    St. Luke’s Care Facility, Alexandria

1995                Crossing the street was hit by a car, he had extensive scalp laceration, fracture of the right

humerus, contusion of the right lower leg, experienced anemia!

2003                June 14 & 15 – Chicago Trip

2004                October 20 – 23 – Chicago Trip

2005 – 2017    Heritage House Kimball

2017 - Current   Savannah Prairie House, Kimball (former Heritage House)

Ernie enjoyed cigarettes, doing crafts, (he was always the first to get to activities and the last to leave!), his iPad, exercise, painting,  singing (favorite song “You Are My Sunshine”), watching army movies, going to church & going out to eat (enjoyed Chicken, Steak, Baked Potatoes, French Fries, Coca Cola, Coffee, O’Doul’s, Root Beer, Plain Cake Donuts, Apple, Pumpkin & Strawberry Pie!)

Ernie’s Celebration of Life will be a private family service!
