Adolph Wensmann

Adolph F. Wensmann, age 83 of Melrose, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Melrose.

A public visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.  Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Adolph Fredrick Wensmann was born November 13, 1937 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Elizabeth (Kolb) Wensmann.  He was united in marriage to Mildred (Zierden) Wensmann on October 15, 1966 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany.  Adolph farmed on the family farm east of Melrose until his retirement in 2000.  He also worked on the Millwood Township Board for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose and St. Bernard’s Society.  Adolph enjoyed playing cards, putting together puzzles, driving tractor, and loved visiting with his family and friends.  He had a wonderful sense of humor that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mildred Wensmann of Melrose; children, Bernice (Merlin) Koester of Upsala, Janice (Rick) Brenner of Avon, Kevin (Karen) Wensmann of Melrose, and Keith (Brooke) Wensmann of Melrose; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen “Dorothy” Roering of Melrose; and brother-in-law, Bernard Brisk of Pierz.

Adolph was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Aubrey Wensmann; brothers and sisters, Mildred Winkels, Rose Mary Steffens, Jerome, Herbert, and LeRoy Wensmann, Marian Brisk, Marcella Bueckers, Donald Wensmann, and Veronica Smude; sisters-in-law, Rita Wensmann, Mary Ann Birr, and Beatrice Wensmann; brothers-in-law, Al Bueckers, Paul Winkels, Butch Smude, Bernard Roering, and Roger Steffens.

Serving as casket bearers will be Matthew Koester, Mark Koester, Nate Brenner, Ryan Brenner, Kirby Wensmann, Karter Wensmann, Kendall Wensmann, and Peyton Wensmann.  Cross bearer will be Jeff Wensmann and scripture bearer will be Jenni Kremers.  Honorary bearers will be Jean Welle, Nikki Myogeto, Kinsey Wensmann, and Kris Wensmann.
