Vernon Louis Hollermann was born October 12, 1939 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Eleanor (Wiener) Hollermann. Vern lived his entire life in Melrose where he met love of his life, Barb Andres, in high school. Vern and Barb were united in marriage on May 21, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose.
Vern began working in the family business, Hollermann Manufacturing, where he helped build pews for many Catholic churches throughout the central Minnesota area. He later worked as a residential and commercial painter before becoming the religious education coordinator for St. Mary’s Church and School from 1992 - 2004. He enjoyed many years of camping with his family and camping club, as well as building and flying remote-controlled airplanes. His true passion, however, was woodworking, especially intarsia. He could often be found spending countless hours in his workshop crafting beautiful and intricate intarsia artwork.
Vern is survived by his children, Mike (Val) Hollermann of Cold Spring, Steve (Deb) Hollermann of Milaca, Deb (Ernie) Bielefeld of Princeton, and Scott (Megan) Hollermann of Ponsford; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sister Ephrem Hollermann, O.S.B, and Betty Schloemer.
Vern was preceded in death by his wife, Barb on June 30, 2022; his parents; brothers, Robert “Bob” Hollermann and Harold “Harry” Hollermann; sister-in-law, Flo Hollermann; and brothers-in-law Bernie Schloemer, Curt Andres, Mark Andres, and Al Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Mary’s Catholic School Endowment Fund.
