Theresa L. “Teri” Michels, age 80 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 1 at River of Life Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Sue Kollman officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 1 at the church.
Theresa Louise Roerick was born July 4, 1945 in St. Francis, Minnesota to Hubert and Ottillia (Mohr) Roerick. She was united in marriage to Graham Michels on October 1, 1966 and later divorced. Teri worked as a nursing assistant at St. Michael’s Nursing Home for 20 years and later at St. Cloud State University. She was a member of River of Life Church in Sauk Centre. Teri enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching movies, playing games, sewing and crocheting, but most importantly, loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca (John) Hofacker of Farmington, Sandra Michels (Peter Bosnak) of Carlsbad, California, Wanda (Kevin) Rieger of Bemidji, Gary (Mary) Michels of Albany, Wally (Stacie) Michels of Sauk Centre, and Rodney (Christy) Michels of Monticello; 12 grandchildren, Andrew (Jami), Marlena, Shania, Tyler (Jessica), Cody, Carter (Kali), Caiya, Tia (Terrence), Lexie (Jake), Morgan (Weston), Grace, and Adam; three great-grandchildren, Ezra, Luca, Addison and one on the way; brothers and sister, Linus (JoAnne) Roerick, Engelbert Roerick, Sylvester (Mary) Roerick, and Celestina (Alquin) Muellner; and sisters-in-law, Ann Roerick and Arlene Roerick.
Teri was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Michael Hofacker; brothers, Anthony Roerick and Arnold Roerick; and sisters-in-law, Helga Roerick and Shari Roerick.
A special thank you to the staff at Fairway Pines for the wonderful care of our mother for the past 15 years. We would also like to thank all the CentraCare Hospice workers for the compassionate care they gave Teri and the family during her final journey.
