Susan Hartung

Susan J. "Sue" Hartung, age 64 of Melrose, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 24 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating and Deacon Ernie Kociemba assisting. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church in Meire Grove. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Susan Jane Kiely was born November 21, 1953 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin to Vincent and Genevieve (Bambrough) Kiely. She married Rick Hoeschen in 1974 and later divorced. On July 7, 1984 she married Allan Hartung at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Sue worked with her husband on the farm north of Melrose. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Sue enjoyed playing cards and going on trips to the casino. She liked working outdoors and was generous with giving to local charities. Sue loved spending time with her family and her friends. She was always up for a good debate and loved making people laugh.

Survivors include her children, Jolane (Jason) Stoermann of Melrose, Josh (Colia) Hartung of Melrose, and Jayna Hartung of Melrose; grandchildren, Jada, Calia, Dacoley and baby Hartung (March, 2019); mother, Genevieve Kiely of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; sister, Linda Kiely of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; pet dog, Charlie; and many nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Hartung on June 7, 2008; father, Vincent Kiely; and brother, Mike Kiely.
