Sue Kane Beckermann

Sue Kane Beckermann age 78 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Cura Care Center in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Julius Beckermann, O.S.B. officiating and Rev. Jim Maderack concelebrating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

Sue Ellen Roller was born October 25, 1946 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Marion and Helen (Smith) Roller. She attended Williamsburg High School in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, and continued her education at Harrisburg Poly Clinic School of Nursing in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Sue failed nursing school but was determined to try again and completed the program and graduated from Germantown Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sue met David Kane in Wildwood, New Jersey while he was in the Coast Guard and she was in nursing school. They both moved to Fargo, North Dakota where Sue began working as a nurse for a short time at St. Luke’s Hospital before they moved to Sauk Centre. They were united in marriage on April 24, 1971 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Sue worked at St. Michael’s Hospital until the death of her husband. To be available for her children, she later worked at the Sauk Centre Clinic and did daycare for a few years. When her children got older, she found her passion working with St. Michael’s Homecare and Hospice. On January 2, 1999, Sue married LaVerne “Vern” Beckermann at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, soaking up the sunshine, watching the MN Twins, and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Vern Beckermann of Sauk Centre; children, Joseph Kane of Sauk Centre, Jeanne (Mike) Metzger of Sauk Rapids and their children, Kyle (Abbey), Tara (Austin) Sargeant, Ezra, and Evan, and Matt (Kim) Kane of Delano and their children, Kerri (Will) Coughlin, Nolan, and Drew; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Coughlin; Vern’s children, Karen (Mark) Gamradt, Patty (Tim) Lawinger, Mike (Corie) Beckermann, Dave (Lisa) Beckermann, Mark Beckermann, Dan (Kathy) Beckermann, Matt (Angie) Beckermann, and Becky (Fred) Sacatropez; 13 Beckermann grandchildren and 21 Beckermann great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jim Roller and Johnny Roller.

Sue was preceded in death by her first husband, David Kane on January 7, 1985; father, Marion Roller on September 2, 1992; mother, Helen Roller on October 24, 2016; sister, Bonnie Bahel on June 30, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Family School in Sauk Centre and/or CentraCare Hospice.
