Ronald A. “Ron” Hiltner, age 58 of Sauk Centre, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at his home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. A Celebration of Life will continue from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Lynn Pundsack’s home, 214 4th Street NE in Melrose. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Ronald Allen Hiltner, along with his twin brother, Don, was born December 17, 1967 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Raymond and Alice (Mohs) Hiltner. They were raised in Minneapolis where they graduated from high school. In 1994, Ron's daughter, Stephanie, was born and in 2002, Ron was united in marriage to Tammy Wichern.
Ron was diagnosed with diabetes in his early 20’s but that didn’t stop him from doing the things he loved. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, four-wheeling, and sitting around a campfire with family and friends. Ron also loved to go fishing with his good friend, Joseph, and took a lot of pride in maintaining his yard.
He was a huge fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings which he enjoyed watching with his brother, Don. Ron was always a hard worker, from working in Minneapolis to working at Walmart in Sauk Centre, and most recently Bayer Built in Belgrade.
In 2021, Ron got to walk his daughter, Stephanie, down the aisle on her wedding day. In 2024, he became a grandpa to his grandson, Logan.
Ron was always a happy go lucky person who lived a simple life, took pride in anything he did, always smiling, and a always willing to offer a helping hand. Ron will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Hiltner; daughter, Stephanie (Brandon) Hansen and grandson, Logan of North Dakota; sisters, Lori Heath of Maple Grove and Lynn (Loren) Pundsack of Melrose; brother, Don Hiltner of Melrose; nephews, Kyle (Amanda) Heath and Donald Connors; and nieces, Mallory (Erik) Lind and Cassandra Connors; and many other family and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alice Hiltner; sisters, Jan Hiltner and Susie Hiltner; niece, Shana Hiltner; and brother-in-law, Tim Heath.
