Richard "Dick" Sovich

Richard P. Sovich, age 80, of Sauk Centre passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Cura in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery. 

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at church.

Richard Peter Sovich was born on June 20, 1943 in Bertha, Minnesota to George P. and Louise K. (Klimek) Sovich. He grew up in Browerville and graduated from Browerville High School in 1961. On July 6, 1963, he was united in marriage to Delores M. Wiener. They resided in Brooklyn Center while they raised their family and moved back to Sauk Centre in 2005. 

Richard was a foreman for Cord-Sets in Minneapolis for 25 years. He spent 16 years in the warehouse at Flemming Foods in Fridley. Richard retired at the age of 59. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center and at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Richard enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and gardening.  

Survivors include his children, Beverly A. Jensen (Todd) of Wyoming, MN, Kevin R. Sovich of Elk River, MN and Kimberly M. Habben (Jason V.) of Elk River, MN; three grandchildren, Kyle A. Jensen (Maddy), Kayla N. Reed (Kellen), and Avery J. Habben (Amanda); three great-grandchildren, Dexter D. and Ryker J. Habben and Mina J. Jensen; many brothers and sisters and other family and close friends.  

Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Delores; parents; and two younger sisters.

 A special thank you to the staff at Cura in Sauk Centre for taking such good care of Richard in his final months. 

 Urn bearer will be Kyle Jensen. The cross bearer will be Avery Habben and scripture bearer will be Kayla Jensen.
