Renee Wensmann

Renee D. Wensmann, age 67 of Bowlus, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, September 25, 2026 at her home in Bowlus, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 1 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Elmdale with Rev. Fr. Sebastian Painappillil, V.C. officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Renee Delores Hartung was born August 11, 1959 in Melrose, Minnesota to Anthony and Ann Marie (Pick) Hartung. She graduated from Albany High School in 1977. After graduation, Renee worked at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany. She was united in marriage Gregory “Greg” Wensmann on May 11, 1991 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Renee helped Greg on the farm and primarily took care of raising their children. She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Elmdale. Renee enjoyed reading, playing games, and playing cards with family. She was an excellent baker, and her specialty was chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors include her husband, Greg Wensmann of Bowlus; children, Kyle (Sada) Wensmann of Rice; Megan Wensmann of Bowlus, and Cory Wensmann of Bowlus; grandson, Noah Wensmann; brothers and sisters, Gerald (Bernice) Hartung, Mary Jane (Gerry) Boeckermann, Doris (John) Leen, Eugene (JoAnn) Hartung, LeRoy (Diane) Hartung, Lillian (John) Arnzen, Darlene (Glen) Engelmeyer, Geri (Jeff) Fleischhacker; sister-in-law, Peg Hartung; and many loving relatives and friends.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Bernadette Hartung; brothers and sister, Melvin Hartung, Kenny Hartung, Izzy Hartung, and Janet Hartung.
