Randall "Randy" Ruegemer

Randall Jon “Randy” Ruegemer, 61, of Albany, Minnesota, passed away on October 10, 2026, at his home after a courageous battle with Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML).

Randy will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a hardworking man, a faithful Christian, a steadfast friend, and a steady presence in the lives of those who loved him. His family takes comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 316 Maple Street South, Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 18 from 2 to 6 p.m. and Monday, October 19 from 10 to 10:45 a.m., all at the church.

Randy was born in 1965 to Virgil and Marlene (Meyer) Ruegemer in Roseville, Minnesota. He spent his early childhood in Roseville before moving with his family to Pierz, Minnesota, where he graduated from Pierz High School in 1984.

Randy married Tami Miland in 1996. Together, they made their home in Albany, Minnesota, where they raised their three children, Kenny, Nick, and Jessica. They celebrated 30 years of marriage this past year.

Throughout his career, Randy was known as a dedicated and dependable worker. After attending Saint Paul Technical College for electronics, he worked as a copier technician with Wagers for 10 years, followed by several years at Creative Memories. In September, he retired from Columbia Gear after 28 years as a machinist.

Randy faced more than his share of health challenges over the years. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2016 and was deeply grateful for the support of family and friends. When he was diagnosed with cancer in December 2025 and later developed PML, that same circle rallied around him and Tami once again. Through visits, prayers, acts of kindness, and a benefit to help with medical expenses, their generosity and compassion brought comfort to Randy and his family during a difficult time.

More than anything, Randy valued the life he built with his family. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, attending Bible study, and taking care of his home. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose, where he also served as an elder. Randy found happiness in the people and simple things that filled his everyday life, and he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Tami Ruegemer; their three children, Kenny, Nick, and Jessica; his siblings, Robert Ruegemer, Cindy (Barry) Yotter, and Tammy Ruegemer; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill (Gwen) Gamradt, John Gamradt, Lynne (BJ) Merten, Randy (Lynn) Miland, Bob (Sandee) Miland, David (Randy Ritterman) Miland, Kathy Williams, Kim Miland, and Byron (Jody) Miland. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Ruegemer and Marlene Ruegemer, and his parents-in-law, Kenneth and Goldie Miland.
