Nancy Moerke

Nancy J. Moerke, age 90 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating. A private inurnment will take place at a later date in Winthrop, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre.

Nancy Jane Edwards was born December 23, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Ralph and Grace (Hanson) Edwards. She married Donald "Peanuts" Moerke on June 5, 1948 in Winthrop and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2013 with their family. The couple had five children, Barbara, Beth, Robert "Bob", Belinda, and Brenda. Nancy and Don made their home in Winthrop where they raised their family. The couple moved to Big Birch Lake in 1976 and later moved to Sauk Centre in 2005. Nancy had volunteered for hospice, worked as a nurse's aide at the Sauk Centre Nursing Home, worked at the Sauk Centre Coborns, and was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Throughout Nancy's life, she met many people and loved to entertain and be a hostess at the lake to all their family and friends.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara (Gary) Edelston of Minnetonka, Beth Moerke of Paynesville, Belinda (Jim) Seitzer of Burnsville, and Brenda (Ken) Klassen of Melrose; daughter-in-law, Marcia Moerke of Maple Grove; sister, Judy (Barry) Becker; eight grandchildren, Scott (Anissa) Schilling, Aaron (Kelli) Moerke, Andrew Moerke, Craig, Matthew, and Taylor Seitzer, and Ryan and Krista Klassen; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremy Edelston and Jill (Dan) Thies; five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Josh, Sam, and John Schilling and Mayne Moerke; and two step-great-grandchildren, Henry and Charlie Thies.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Don Moerke; son, Robert Moerke; parents, Ralph and Grace Edwards; and brother, Richard "Dick" Edwards.
