Maverick Thompson

Maverick Timothy Thompson was born on February 28th, 2026 at 25 weeks and 3 days gestation at CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital to the parents of Nikki and Darren Thompson. Maverick lived his life knowing nothing but love, kindness and care. He enjoyed hearing his parents voices, especially when they read to him. Maverick always had a charming smile for both his momma and the nurses when it was time for bath time, range of motion, daily care and feedings. He quickly bonded with everyone who came near or had time for him. Ultimately on March 29th 2026, Maverick was called home to God after a strong month of battling sickness and premature lungs. He was held with love and understanding in his parents arms at the time of passing.

Maverick may have been tiny, but he was mighty. He was our “Mighty Mav”.

Maverick was survived by his parents, Nikki and Darren, as well as his five big brothers: Matthew, Jacob and Emmett Strother and Elliott and Jensen Thompson of Sauk Centre; grandparents, Lisa and DeNeil Thompson of Silver Lake and Bonnie Walter of Sauk Centre; As well as many aunts, uncles and great-grandparents.

Maverick was preceded in death by his grandfather Tim Walter; great-grandparents, Sharon Walter, John Gillies and Albert and Elaine Ernhart; and great-great-grandparents, Ken and Virginia Kilanowski.

We would especially like to thank the CentraCare St. Cloud NICU team. Not only did they take wonderful care of our sweet little Maverick during his stay, but for us as well. Especially during his time of passing.

To our little honey bee: “The most important thing is, even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you” – Winnie The Pooh. Love mommy and daddy.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
