Marvin H. "Marv" Niehoff, age 76 of Melrose, died peacefully Wednesday at his home.

A memorial mass will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 24th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Rev. Kevin Niehoff, O.P. will celebrate the mass with Rev. Vincent Lieser concelebrating. Inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and Monday at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Melrose Veterans Honor Guard will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. and Knights of Columbus at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.

Marvin Niehoff was born on April 3, 1926 in River Falls, Wisconsin to William B. and Zita (Wieber) Niehoff. He married Elaine M. Beste on September 14, 1957 at St. Boniface in Melrose. He was employed by Stearns Electric for 46 ½ years. Marv and Elaine were the International Events Managers for HitchHikers of America. That was a pretty fancy title and Marv much preferred to be called "HitchHiker Wagon Master". Marv and Elaine are representatives for Sky Med. He had numerous hobbies and kept very busy after retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 and the American Legion Post 101.

Marv is survived by his wife, Elaine Niehoff of Melrose; children Rev. Kevin Niehoff, O.P. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tim Niehoff and his wife, Janice of Menomonie, Wisconsin; James Niehoff of Inver Grove Heights; and Daniel Niehoff and his wife, Lisa of Becker; sisters and brothers, Sylvia Murphy of River Falls, Wisconsin; Anna Mae Fox and her husband, Joe of Maplewood, Minnesota; Florence Richmeier and her husband, Ed of Clear Lake, Wisconsin; Bertha Niehoff of Mondovi, Wisconsin; Virginia Gove and her husband, Jerry of Trego, Wisconsin; Henry "Hank" Niehoff and his wife, Ione of Stone Lake, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Niehoff of Spooner, Wisconsin; 3 grandchildren, Angela Hyde, Andrew Niehoff and Jennifer Niehoff; and one great-granddaughter, Tabitha Hyde.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alcuin Niehoff.

Serving as urn bearer will be Andrew Niehoff. Serving as cross bearer will be Henry "Hank" Niehoff and Jennifer Niehoff will be scripture bearer.
