Marcella "Marcy" Blenker

Marcella A. “Marcy” Blenker, age 89, of Melrose, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2023, surrounded by her family at the CentraCare Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The Mass will be livestreamed and can be viewed on YouTube channel: Church of St. Mary Melrose.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church in Melrose.

Marcy was born September 28, 1934 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Martin and Mary (Gappa) Zinniel. She was united in marriage to Joseph Blenker on October 18, 1955 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis. She was a homemaker and also worked at Jennie-O Foods in Melrose. Marcy enjoyed family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and Bingo. She thoroughly enjoyed life.

Marcy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her children, Roger Blenker, Carol (Don) Zirbes, Mary (Jeff) Philippi, Linda (Ken) Unger, Karen (Arlan) Wolbeck, Alice Henifin, and Michael (Jacie) Blenker; daughter-in-law, Kathy Blenker; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Tressie Vogel; and sisters-in-law, Tudy Zinniel, MaryAnn Zinniel, and Rosie Hinnenkamp.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; sons, Ronnie Blenker and Eddie Blenker; son-in-law, Kevin Henifin; grandsons, Justin Zirbes and Joshua Zirbes; brothers, Ed Zinniel, Everett Zinniel, and Virgil Zinniel; sister-in-law, Ann Zinniel; and brother-in-law, Elmer Hinnenkamp.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
