Leona Boeckermann

Leona M. Boeckermann, age 74 of St. Rosa, died on Friday, May 23, 2003 at the Albany Area Hospital.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in St. Rosa. Christian Mothers will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Monday evening at the church.

Leona Boeckermann was born on Nov. 9, 1928 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Herman and Anna (Middendorf) Klaphake. She was united in marriage to Edmund N. Boeckermann on May 11, 1948 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple farmed in Krain Township, Stearns County until retiring in 1985, when they moved to a home in Millwood Township. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. Leona enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, quilting and embroidery and gardening.

Survivors include five children, Carol (Gilbert) Gerads of Freeport, Irene (Glen) Breth of Albany, Thomas (Ruth) Boeckermann of Lakeville, Gary (Peg) Boeckermann of Freeport and Steven (Laura) Boeckermann of Sauk Rapids; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Anthony (Louise) Klaphake of Greenwald, Lorraine Marthaler of Osakis, Edward (Marlene) Klaphake and Herman "Howdy" (Kathy) Klaphake of Sauk Centre, Margaret (Herb) Breitbach of Elrosa, Valeria (Steve) Kral of Osakis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund on Jan. 22, 2001; and son, Melvin on Oct. 25, 1970.

Serving as casket bearers will be grandchildren, Dennis, Danny, Russell and Kevin Gerads, Shirley Goerger, Sandra Woodrum, Joe Breth and Crystle Boeckermann, Cross bearer will be Maria Boeckermann, scripture bearer will be Mary Borgerding and gift bearers will be Theresa Breth and Thomas Boeckermann.
