LaDonna Wessel

LaDonna J. "LaDoo" Wessel, age 64 of Sauk Centre, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 surrounded by family at her home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Pastor Marty Porter officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and one hour prior to the service at the church.

LaDonna Jean Crain was born on December 31, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was adopted on February 15, 1952 by Gilbert and Lena Crain. In 1975 LaDonna moved to Sauk Centre and she married Joe Wessel on October 20, 1990 in St. Cloud. She was employed by Sauk Centre Public Schools for 31 ½ years. From 1999 until her retirement in 2013 she was the secretary at Sauk Centre High School. Teenagers were her passion, and she had a love for them all.

She also bartended at the Corner Bar in Sauk Centre for 30 years, for six different owners. LaDonna loved her Saturday people at the bar. She bowled for many years and still got together with her bowling crew even after they were no longer on a league. LaDonna also loved riding with Joe and her friends on motorcycle rides. She enjoyed flowers, especially daises and the iris. LaDonna's biggest accomplishment are her two daughters, Rhonda and Becky.

LaDonna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre.

LaDonna is survived by her husband, Joe Wessel of Sauk Centre; two daughters, Rhonda (Dan) McCoy of St. Martin and Becky (Kyle) Cash of Sauk Rapids; step-son, Christopher Wessel of Alexandria; seven grandchildren, Katie, Kristina (Ben) Sorenson, Anthony, Emily, Benjamin McCoy; Alex and Brenna Cash; mother, Lena Meyer of Lawton, OK; and brother, Gary (Linda) Crain of Greeley, CO.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Crain.
