Kevin Havard

Kevin James Havard, age 53, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Albany, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2026, from a heart attack.

Kevin grew up in Albany, where he spent his childhood playing in the large family yard, around the neighborhood, and at the nearby park. He graduated from Albany Area Schools in 1992, where he enjoyed playing football and participating in theater productions. Kevin later attended the University of Minnesota Duluth. He had a lifelong love of music and especially enjoyed attending concerts. Kevin lived in the Twin Cities area for many years before making his home in Belle Plaine for the last few years.

He loved the outdoors and treasured the many memories he made fishing and hunting with his dad and friends. Camping was another favorite pastime. Kevin was also a devoted dog lover and had several dogs throughout his life, including his beloved Kyia, who held a special place in his heart. An avid football fan, Kevin faithfully cheered on the Green Bay Packers—Go Pack! In more recent years, he enjoyed growing plants and flowers and filling his surroundings with bright, beautiful colors.

Kevin had an outgoing personality and made friends easily. He enjoyed spending time with others playing cards and board games. At family gatherings, he was often the one to get a game started, bringing plenty of good humor and playful teasing along with it.

Kevin will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. Survivors include his mother, Connie Havard of Albany; sisters, Karen (Grant) Jansons and their five daughters of Elk River and Kristen (Kevin) Schauer and their daughter of Glencoe; his significant other, Chris Ohm of Belle Plaine; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Bob Havard, who passed away in 2023.

A private family gathering to celebrate and remember Kevin’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of memorials, Kevin’s family encourages those wishing to honor his memory to make a donation to a favorite charity that helps others or to a local humane society.
