Joseph F. Steinhofer, Jr. age 78 of Meire Grove died March 19th at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Meire Grove. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Parish prayers will be Friday at the funeral home at 7 p.m. followed by Holy Rosary Society, Poor Souls Society, St. Joseph's Men's Society and Catholic Order of Foresters at 8 p.m.

Joseph Steinhofer, Jr. was born on August 29, 1924 in Lake Henry, Minnesota to Joseph and Catherine (Becker) Steinhofer. He married Veronica "Fronie" E. Imdieke on June 5, 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Joe was an active church council member and lector. He was a construction superintendent for commercial buildings in several states. Joe was an officer, organizer and baseball player for the Meire Grove Baseball Team. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling. He served on the city council and was an organizer of the building of city hall in Meire Grove. In later years Joe was a consultant for an architect for commercial buildings. After retiring Joe and his wife, Fronie were managers at Oak Grove Living in Meire Grove.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Society, Poor Souls Society, St. Joseph's Men's Society and Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include his wife, Veronica "Fronie" Steinhofer of Meire Grove, children, Greg Steinhofer (Jean) of St. Augusta and Myron Steinhofer (Karen) of Avon; brother, John Steinhofer (Gladys) of Grove Lake; 6 grandchildren, Jill Tabatt (Mike), Shawn Steinhofer (Jackie), Jodi Stotko (Eric), Jacob, Luke and Jesse Steinhofer; 2 great-grandchildren, Grace Steinhofer and Riley Stotko.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Steinhofer; sisters and brothers, Marie Luethmers, Florentine Dingman, Leander, Norbert, Math and Raymond Steinhofer.
