JoAnne M. “Joanie” Ricker, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 at her home in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, May 16 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Edward Vebelun, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be at Seven Dolors Cemetery in Albany.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Seven Dolors Gathering Area in Albany.
JoAnne Marie Schiffler was born August 27, 1945 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Lloyd and Mary (Poxleitner) Schiffler. She graduated from Albany High School and retired as an administrative assistant for the Liturgical Press at St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville. On September 18, 1965, she was united in marriage to Ronald Ricker at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany.
Faith and family were the center of JoAnne’s life. She was a devoted member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Seven Dolors Christian Mothers, the Red Hatters, and the Albany Community Band, where she played the alto saxophone. Joanie enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing cards with her many card groups, and spending time with friends. She also loved fishing and shopping, but above all, she treasured creating lasting memories with her family.
JoAnne is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Ricker of St. Cloud; children Carol (Bob) Gemuenden of Forest Lake, Kevin (Michele Fernholz) Ricker of Alexandria, and Gary Ricker of Rice; grandchildren, Maddi Gemuenden, Megan (Aaron Schweitz) Gemuenden, Amanda (Ryan) Dietz, and Kate Gemuenden; siblings, Joe (Janel) Schiffler of Albany, Bonnie Berscheid of Holdingford, and Paul (Stacy) Schiffler of Albany; sister-in-law, Virginia Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mary Schiffler; brother, John “Jackie” Schiffler; sister, Janice Schiffler; and brother-in-law, Mike Berscheid.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
