Jenrose Kalthoff

Jenrose (Scherer) Kalthoff, age 88 of Albany, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 28, 2026, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2026 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Edward Vebelun, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Seven Dolors Gathering Area in Albany.

Jenrose (Jenny) Scherer was born October 5, 1937, in St. Joseph, MN to Math and Elizabeth (Lahr) Scherer. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1955. Jenny was crowned Stearns County Dairy Princess in 1958 and worked at Purity Milk and X-Cel Optical as a bookkeeper before marrying Linus Kalthoff June 7, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph, MN. Jenny helped Linus farm south of Albany before moving into town in 1999. She taught faith formation at Seven Dolors Catholic Church for over 40 years. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Society, Funeral Committee, Parish Council, Bazaar Chairperson, Stearns County Fair Board, Albany Legion Auxiliary. Jenny was also active in the Albany Southsiders 4-H Club. Jenny enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and scrapbooking.

She is survived by her children, Luanne (Mark) Bemis, Sheboygan, WI; Susan (Rick) Sovada, St Cloud, MN; Carol (Paul) Longsdorf, Forest Lake, MN; Ron (Karina) Kalthoff; Lisa (Steve) Anderson; Roger (Staci) Kalthoff and Sara Kalthoff all of Albany. Grandchildren: Maranda (Mike) Gillen; Justin (Kelsey) and Ryan (Elissa) Mergen; Carrie, Maggie, Mitchell, Marcus, Mathias, Maria, Micah, Marty (Clare) Longsdorf; Katie, Kristine, Theresa, Lynette, Landen, Noah, Nathan, Laina and Aaron (Miranda) Kalthoff; Neal, Sophia, Nolan (Holly) Anderson; Lauren (Andre) Lopez; Katlyn, Kyle (Makenzie) Sovada and 13 great grandchildren; brothers and sister: Elmer Scherer, Chillicothe, IL; Fran Scherer, Marshall, MN; Helen (Ken) Helen, New London, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Linus; son, Ryan; granddaughter, Ellie Sovada; sisters, Marcy Rueter; Dolores Trettel; Nellie Lenzmeier; Fronie Adelman; brothers, Cyril and Al Scherer.
