On June 18, 1960 she married Thomas Gill Jr. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rogers, Minnesota while Genny worked at National Connector in Brooklyn Park. In 1983, Genny started working at Jennie-O Foods in Melrose while helping on the farm. She retired from Jennie-O Foods in 2005 and enjoyed the friendships she made and all the joking around they did. Genny shared with everyone she met, how proud she was of her and Tom raising ten kids. Family was important to Genny. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Genny was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed shopping at Mother Seton, her morning trips with Mary, an occasional trip to the casino, buying lottery tickets and scratch offs, keeping everyone informed of newborn calves, telling jokes of all kinds, having lemon dessert, Diet Coke, and Newport 100’s.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Tom Gill Jr. of Albany; children, Thomas Gill III (Sharon Richter), Mary (Tom) Zink, Mike (Sue) Gill, Danny Gill (Kathleen Waszak), Cindy (Mark) Byer, Dave Gill (Laurie Rodenwald), Jerry Gill, Joe (Denise) Gill, and Sara (Ray) Denis; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brother, Alois Rakotz Jr.; sister, Mary Ann (Gary) Harren; and brother-in-law, Duane Heinen.
