Genevieve "Gennie" Welle

Genevieve L. “Gennie” Welle, age 89 of Spring Hill, passed away, surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at her home in Spring Hill, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Rev. Mitchell Bechtold officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. with a rosary immediately following by the Christian Women on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Genevieve Louise Lieser was born October 25, 1936 in Lake Henry, Minnesota to Alois and Agatha (Fuchs) Lieser. She was united in marriage to Vernon Welle on July 17, 1956 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry, Minnesota. Vernon and Gennie farmed all of their life northwest of Spring Hill. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Christian Women, and Daughters of Isabella. Gennie truly enjoyed anything to do with farming. Her favorite chore was plowing the fields. She would stay in the field until the tractor ran dry.

Survivors include her children, Debbie (Steve) Christians of Montevideo, Bobby (Donna) Welle of Spring Hill, Danny (Deanna) Welle of Spring Hill, and Kathy (Pete) LeClaire of Spring Hill; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Leona Spanier of Hemet, California and Paul (Judy) Lieser of Spring Lake Park.

Gennie was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Welle on June 10, 2024; parents; grandson, John Paul LeClaire; brothers, Werner, Alvin, Alvarius, Peter, and Cyril Lieser; and sister, Leora Lesser.
