Frances Marie Goodwalt, daughter of Jesse and Julia (Sandman) Goodwalt was born September 2, 1931 in Roberts County, South Dakota.   When Fran was a very young child, her family moved to the Glenwood, Minnesota area.   At the age of 16, Fran graduated from Glenwood High School – Class of 1947.  On August 30, 1949, Frances was united in marriage to Charles “Charlie” in Sedan, Minnesota. In 1955, they moved from Glenwood to San Diego, California with their family.  While there, Fran became very involved with St. Didacus Parish School.   She served on the School Board and helped where ever she was needed.  In 1970, Fran and Charlie moved to Santee, CA.  She worked in Kaiser Hospital where she became a supervisor in the Housekeeping Department.  In 1978, the Terhaars moved back to Minnesota where Charlie built their retirement home just outside of Sauk Centre.  After Charlie’s death, Fran moved to an apartment in Sauk Centre.

Frances can be remembered as a woman of strong Catholic faith who was extremely devoted to her prayer life.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.   Being called Grandma Franny by her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her incredible joy.  Grandma Franny had a unique Christmas gift that she gave to each of grandchildren and great grandchildren – a crisp new $2.00 bill!  Many of the grandkids have treasured this gift and have saved each of them year after year!  Fran was a member of the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

Frances will be deeply missed by her seven children, Jeanette (Ralph) Schlueter of Buffalo, Linda (Gerald) Frericks of Sauk Centre, Bernita (Duane) Hinnenkamp of Cold Spring, Alvina (Jim) Maus of Melrose, Jeff (Carol) Terhaar of Davidsonville, MD, Julie (Greg) Tschida of Melrose and Patrick (Lynn) Terhaar of LaCenter, Washington; 23 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Rose Searcy of Sauk Centre and Elsie Kill of Benson; brother, Jerry Goodwalt of Minneapolis; her extended family – the Ray and Lorraine Frericks family; other relatives and friends.
