Dolores L. Notch, age 87 of Freeport, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 24, 2026 at CentraCare Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Goldenaires Senior Citizens and Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4 p.m. Friday evening.
Dolores Laura Kohorst was born on August 16, 1939, in Oak Township, Minnesota, to Joseph and Irene (Luethmers) Kohorst. As a young child, Dolores lived in Flensburg and Little Falls. Following the death of her parents, she moved to St. Anthony and then to Freeport, where she was raised by her grandparents, Ben and Anna Luethmers.
Dolores graduated from Melrose High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Alcuin John Notch on June 7, 1960, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Together, Dolores and Alcuin spent 31 years on the family farm before moving to Freeport in 1995. She worked as the manager of First Stop in Freeport until her retirement in 2001. Dolores later became the manager of the Freeport Senior Center, a role she enjoyed and proudly held for the past 11 years.
Dolores was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, the Christian Women, and the Freeport Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, gardening, baking, and playing cards. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the many memories they made together.
Survivors include her husband, Alcuin Notch; children, Jeanne Beutz, Steve (Janet) Notch, Joseph Notch, Susan (Mike) Gill, and David Notch; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, with two more great-grandchildren expected in September and November; sister, Lorene Koopmeiners; and brothers-in-law, Arnold Stueve and John Eveslage.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Irene Kohorst; grandparents, Ben and Anna Luethmers and August and Josephine Kohorst; and sisters, Dorene Stueve and Joyce Eveslage.
