Clara K. Michael, age 83 of Freeport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, surrounded by her family at Cura Care Center in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. The Christian Women will pray the rosary at 5 p.m. Monday at the church.
Clara Katherine Job was born on August 15, 1942, in Freeport, Minnesota to Ralph and Wilhelmina (Wensman) Job. She graduated from high school in 1960. On May 9, 1964, she was united in marriage to Jerry Michael at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Together, they raised seven children on the family farm.
Clara worked as a clerk at Schulzetenberg Hardware in Freeport from November 1960 until May 1964. From 1964 to 1997, she managed the financial and business records for the family farm. Beginning in March 1996 and continuing through 2016, she served as the clerk for Millwood Township. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Mayers from 1999 to 2007. Dedicated to lifelong learning, Clara completed adult education courses in computer applications, gaining skills that enhanced her administrative and office work.
Clara was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, Minnesota.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Michael of Freeport, children, Donna Heinen of Sauk Centre, Jeff (Jolene) Michael of Freeport, Dean (Lisa) Michael of Chippewa Falls, WI, Mary (Dean) Muellner of Inver Grove Heights, Susan (Mike) McGoldrick of Edina, James (Jean) Michael of Sauk Rapids, and Marisa (Jason) George of Sauk Centre; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Blommel of Grey Eagle, Arthur Job of Dayton, Louis (Mathilda) Job of Freeport, Mary Jane Urbashich of Melrose, Richard Job of Ankeny, Iowa, and Ethel Carlson of Prior Lake; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Harold Job, Dolores Waldorf, Edward Job, and Marcella Berscheid.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
