Calvin "Fritz" Domke

Calvin R. “Fritz” Domke, age 85 of Cold Spring, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, Minnesota.

A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 28 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Rev. Roger Fears officiating.

A Celebration of Life will follow the prayer service from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Calvin Richard Domke was born June 26, 1940 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Howard and Ella Domke. He graduated from Sauk Center High School in 1958 and married Lois Tombers in August of 1959. Shortly after the wedding, they relocated to California. Lois passed away in August of 2000 in California.

Fritz was employed by the Los Angeles Police Department for 27 years and retired in 1988 as a Detective II. After retirement, Fritz, “Cal”, provided security for Johnny Carson at his Malibu residence for 10 years.

Fritz was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Fritz enjoyed his love of water skiing, snow skiing, and golfing. Fritz will be remembered for his love of traveling, his sense of humor, and always enjoyed watching a good western movie. He also enjoyed wintering as a snowbird in Arizona for many years.

Fritz is survived by his wife, “Skip” (Wanda Hanson) Domke; three children, Ty Domke (Candi) of Arizona, Jill Domke-O’Shea (Mike) of California, and Todd Domke of Arizona; three grandchildren, Kristina Manankichian, Ryan Osborne, and Tyler LaPierre; two step-children, Thomas Hanson (Monica) of Cold Spring and Jody Dickhaus (Keith) of Cold Spring; three step-grandchildren, Miles Hanson, Maisy Hanson, and Rayna Dickhaus; sister, Maxine Stepp; and brother, Earl (Barbara) Domke.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois (Tombers); parents, Howard and Ella Domke; and brothers, Clarence and Russell Domke.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
