Arlene Agnes Arnold, age 93, of Sauk Centre passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg, Ohio. Arlene had been staying in Ohio with her son Jim.

Funeral services for Arlene will be held on Thursday, September 15, at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre at 11 AM, viewing at 10 AM. Pastor Michael P. Carlson will preside. A lunch will follow the service, with burial at Long Bridge Lutheran Cemetery.

Arlene was born to William "Bill" and Caroline "Lena" (Birkemeyer) Pfeiffer on August 11, 1923, at home on the family farm near Swanville, Minn. She graduated from Swanville High School and from teachers' training in Little Falls, then taught in country schools in the Long Prairie area and worked as a dental assistant. She also worked for the Minnesota Power and Light Company showing customers how to use their new electrical appliances. She married Wallace Gordon Arnold of Gutches Grove on October 10, 1950. Wallace was farming with his dad, but after they were married Arlene and Wallace operated a dairy farm near Sauk Centre until Wallace's death in 1972. Arlene also taught in a country school northwest of Sauk Centre and worked at Fingerhut Corporation in Sauk Centre sewing swatches, winter coats and other items of clothing for a few years.

After Wallace's death she returned to work at Fingerhut as a quality control inspector. She raised sheep on her farm for over 35 years after Wallace's passing. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the local Homemaker's Club. Arlene also volunteered for hospice for over 30 years.

Arlene is survived by her son James Wallace Arnold, daughter Patricia Ann Arnold; and five grandchildren-Nancy Gaillas (Teddy) of Thornwood, NY, Christine Behnen (Christopher Staser) of Salt Lake City, UT, Henry Behnen of Brooklyn, NY, Theresa Behnen of Brooklyn, NY, and Robert Behnen of St. Cloud, MN. She had three great grandchildren-Yair Behnen of Salt Lake City, and Alex Gaillas and Keira Gaillas of Thornwood, NY.
