Ambrose H. Muellner, age 90 of Grey Eagle and formerly of St. Cloud, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 15 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf officiating. A private inurnment will be held in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.
Ambrose Herman Muellner was born July 20, 1932 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to John and Margaret (Brix) Muellner. On September 3, 1951 he was united in marriage to Mildred Heinen at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Ambrose worked at various places including Fuller’s Grocery Store in Grey Eagle, Gaida’s Sausage House, manager of the meat department at Piggly Wiggly for many years, and lastly, at DeZuricks until his retirement. Ambrose and Millie lived in Grey Eagle to start and then moved to the big city of St. Cloud. They purchased a snowbird home 29 years ago in Roadhaven Resort in Apache Junction, Arizona where Ambrose enjoyed going to craft fairs and will be remembered as the Bike Guy!
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Cloud and St. George Catholic Church in Apache Junction, Arizona. Ambrose loved woodworking and could make just about anything. He was a master at making sausage and cutting up meat. He was proud to be a meat cutter and loved to fix bikes, at one time he had 52 bikes. Ambrose and Millie also enjoyed life at Roadhaven Resort as snowbirds. He never missed happy hour at 4 p.m. for 2 beers and a shot of black berry.
Survivors include his children, Juanita “Nita” (Bill) Nohner of St. Cloud and Jacquelyn “Jackie” Friese of Grey Eagle; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Kelly) McCarney and their children, Reese and Tyler, Jennifer (Rick) Johnson and their children, Kali, Emma, and Drew, Bethanie Friese (Luke Rohde) and their children, Alexis and Mackenzie, and Heidi (Beau) Krueger and their children, Nyah and Meeli; sisters-in-law, Florence Tschida of Grey Eagle and Rita Heinen of Sartell; many nieces, nephews, relatives and lots of friends from both St. Cloud and Apache Junction.
Ambrose was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Millie” Muellner on December 2, 2018; parents; brothers, Tony, Adolph, Alfred, and infant brother, Johann; and sisters, Margarete and Theresa.
