Alice A. Soenneker (Terhaar), age 79, of Sauk Centre, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Kevin Soenneker officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the St. Paul’s Church gathering area. A rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the church for anyone who would like to pray for Alice.
Alice Anne Terhaar was born on November 7, 1946, to Alex and Katie (Schoenberg) Terhaar. In 1966, she was united in marriage to Jerome Soenneker at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, Minnesota. Together, they were blessed with seven children. Alice worked at Holy Family School in Sauk Centre as a head cook for 25 years. She enjoyed interacting with and getting to know the children. She loved spending time with others whatever that meant – playing cards, bowling, or baking for friends and family.
Above all else, Alice treasured her faith, praying often, and living out her love for Christ. She was president of the Christian Mothers, volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels, and helped in the establishment of the Home Bound Ministry at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, Judy, Mike, Karen, Deb (Rick) Rentchler, Dale (Ramona), Keith, and Father Kevin; six grandchildren, Tony, Katelyn, Luke, Cody, Colton, and Maci; brothers, Ray, Jerry, John, and Joe (Donna); and in-laws, Rita Primus, Arnie Soenneker, and Janet Soenneker.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; parents; brother, Leroy Terhaar; and sister, Esther Westermeyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Family School in Sauk Centre.
