Agatha P. “Aggie” Frieler, age 94 of Melrose, formerly of Grey Eagle, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Brady Keller officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.
Agatha Pauline Kerkering was born November 26, 1931 in Melrose, Minnesota to William and Mary (Leukam) Kerkering. Aggie met Vernon “Vern” Frieler at the New Munich Ballroom and were united in marriage on June 20, 1951 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Together they farmed and raised their family near Grey Eagle. After living on the farm for 67 years, the couple moved to Melrose.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and the Christian Women. Aggie was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Aggie enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, quilting, embroidering dish towels, traveling, and baking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Gerald (Doris) Frieler of Melrose, Kenneth (Judy) Frieler of Grey Eagle, Mark (Diane) Frieler of Sauk Rapids, Robert Frieler (Charlotte Owens) of Kent, Washington, and Sandra (Dan) Welz of Sartell; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Rita Frieler of Melrose.
Aggie was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Frieler on June 28, 2019; parents; children, Kevin and Bonnie Jean; and brother-in-law, Alvin Frieler.
