Bonnie Stachowski, MSW, LGSW
Grief Specialist
We were fortunate to have Bonnie join our staff as our grief specialist in 2001.
The bereavement aftercare service she provides includes contacting people after
they have experienced a death, offering in-home visits when requested, providing
grief and loss information, and connecting people to community resources. She is
pleased to lend a listening ear during difficult times.
Bonnie has extensive professional experience and training in the area of grief and
loss. Her own personal losses help create an understanding of how grief can impact
people’s lives. As a volunteer for St. Cloud Hospital’s Hospice Program,
she facilitates a grief group and provides bereavement aftercare. Bonnie also facilitates
a support group at a pet hospital for people who have lost a pet.
Bonnie is a licensed graduate social worker, received her undergraduate degree in
social work from St. Cloud State University and her Master’s degree from the
University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Bonnie is married, has three daughters and seven grandchildren.
You will probably feel a variety of emotions when you lose someone you love. The
ability to make it through the death of a loved one can be challenging. You may
have feelings of shock and disbelief, anger, guilt and depression.
Caring for yourself is not selfish. The period of recovery is different for every
person. There is no timetable for grief, so don't compare yourself with others who
have lost loved ones. Your life has changed and healing in your own way is important
for the health of your mind, body and spirit. It's normal for some days to be better
than others.
The following sources will provide you with sound information to help you manage
your feelings and emotions at this most difficult time.

difficult one. We're here to help mourners and those who care for them."
