Herbert J. "Herb" Meyer, age 68 of Grey Eagle, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Reverend Ron Dockendorf officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church in Grey Eagle.

Herbert John Meyer was born August 15, 1941 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Herbert Linn and raised by Sylvester and Alvina (Eveslage) Meyer. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years and in the U. S. Navy Reserves for 21 years. Herb worked as a manager at National Industrial Hardware in Pennsylvania for many years before returning to Minnesota. Herb just received his medallion for 21years of sobriety from Alcoholics' Anonymous. He enjoyed playing cards and caring for his dogs.

Herb was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth (Christine) Meyer of Long Pond, PA; 2 grandsons, Luke Meyer and Kenny Meyer, Jr., both at home; brother, Ken (Sherry) Meyer of Vadnais Heights; sister, Marge (Chuck) Grausam of No. Mankato; one niece and seven nephews; and last but not least, his dog, Jack.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Herbert Meyer.

Serving as casket bearers will be Kenny Meyer, Jr., Bruce Grausam, Tom Grausam, Dave Grausam, Mick Grausam, and Jake Meyer. Cross bearer will be Luke Meyer and scripture bearer will be Zach Meyer.
