Lucille Mary Hoppe was born June 27, 1930 in Oak Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Frank and Anna (Schulzetenberg) Hoppe. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1950 and worked in medical records at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. On September 3, 1951 she was united in marriage to Herbert Meyer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. They farmed southeast of New Munich on the Hoppe homestead farm where Lucille was born.

Lucille was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, Saint Ann's Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid Society, and St. Leo Court 786 Catholic Order of Foresters. Lucille was very musical. She enjoyed listening to country music, playing the guitar and the piano, and singing. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Herb Meyer of New Munich; children, Ken Meyer of New Munich, Roger (Sharon) Meyer of Melrose, Lois (John) Walton of Bloomington, Diane (Jeff) Lee of Roseau, Brenda (Pat) Schleper of Paynesville, and Cheryl Meyer (fiancé, Chris Reeve) of Maple Lake; 8 grandchildren; and sisters, Mildred Kociemba of Albany and Jeanette (Otto) Kaschmitter of St. Martin.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Frank Meyer; and infant sister, Ann Hoppe.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jordan Schleper, Brandon Schleper, Brian Walton, Christopher Meyer, Jennifer Johnson, and Spencer Lee. Cross bearer will be Rachel Walton.

Lucille may be gone, but she will always be with us; watch for that colorful bird flitting about, flowers peeking through in the spring thaw, a brilliant rainbow after a summer rain or sunshine warming your cheek.
